It's been ages. I have aged by 2 more years since my last post here. well, then enough of reminiscences and history.
i am here and i am going to write on something and that something hovers around an idea called 'Evam', a 5 year old dream, a dream which started with theatre, bringing theatre to everybody till then supposedly restricted to the intelligentia. I somehow recall the scene from gladiator when Maximus slays another of his ilk of gladiators in midst of an applauding arena and turns back to see them crying for more blood and dead bodies. He yells "are you not entertained? are you not entertained?". Poignant scene, poignant performance. but, here no one needs to yell those words for, we were entertained, very much for the odd one and a half hours. It's a pleasure to watch spontaniety unfold in front of your eyes. The energy of players can elevate the scenes from mundaneness and keep you tuned to the proceedings.
So, how was the play? it was a "fantasssttiiicc performance" in Karthik Kumar aka KK's words. people had their money's worth I guess. Borrowing gabbar's words "aadmi teen (3), aur characters anek (many), bahut naainsaafi hai", but, no, the three men did justice to the many roles two of them had to potray especially, the balancing act between the sexes by TMK. Obviously, can't reveal the plot lines, but, it was a very breezy, light evening to enjoy.
Don't miss the play if it happens in your city.
